Dr. Donald Webb Award - For Dedication in Learning Music

Dr. Donald Webb was a treasured student for 22 years, and he was one of my first piano students, when I began teaching.

Whenever I flew back to California from Washington, I would give him lessons, until I started Wenjen Piano Studios in Seal Beach and Los Angeles, and in the South Bay. Little did I know that I would be his piano teacher for the next two decades, until he passed in his 80’s.

A retired physicist, with a PhD from Cal Tech, playing the piano was his only hobby after he retired. He was a dedicated student, practicing hours a day and performing in almost every piano performance workshops.

He was an inspiration to all as he became an advanced pianist, memorizing entire movements of piano concerti. He loved music history, and always shared an interesting story about every piece and composer before he performed. He loved playing piano duets and piano concerti together. His favorite composers to perform were Brahms, Schubert, Chopin, and of course, J.S. Bach.

This award is generously sponsored by Dr. Don’s daughter, Janet Webb.

Why I Am Passionate About Teaching

Music has been my lifelong companion, and my passion for teaching stems from a deep desire to share this gift with others. The moments when a student's eyes light up as they master a piece, or when a teacher's studio flourishes with new ideas, are the moments that inspire me every day. Empowering others through music is not just my profession—it is my life's calling

“Hands down the BEST piano teacher who will provide you with the HIGHEST quality piano training anyone has to offer. I personally was a student in this piano studio for nearly 12 years, and I was able to grow tremendously under Ms. Noreen. She is not only one of the kindest individuals I have ever met and a lifelong friend, but she is also exceptionally musically talented and has the talent of both teaching her students technical expertise while also inspiring them to learn out of intrinsic excitement. She pushes her students to compete in competitions of all levels, even from a young age, and she is a life coach as well. I have only praise for Ms. Noreen and strongly recommend you to join her piano studio!!"
